It’s suitable for indoor or sheltered outdoor locations. IP68 offers complete protection against dust and can be continuously submerged in water under specified pressure. IP68 is required for exposed deck applications, while IP54 is sufficient for engine rooms, control panels, and cabins.

A JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) cable gland is manufactured according to the specifications set by Japan’s industrial standards body. This ensures dimensional compatibility, material quality, and performance for use in equipment and vessels built to Japanese standards, which are common in the global shipbuilding industry.

A weld-on stuffing box, like our TH Series, is used when you need to create a permanent and highly secure cable passage through a steel plate, such as a ship’s bulkhead or deck. Unlike a standard gland that mounts in a drilled hole, welding the body creates an integrated, structurally sound entry point that prevents leaks and withstands high mechanical stress.

While both materials are excellent for indoor marine use, Chrome-Plated Brass is the standard, cost-effective choice for most applications. You should choose Stainless Steel (SUS304) in areas with higher humidity, frequent temperature changes that could cause condensation, or where there is a risk of exposure to cleaning chemicals or other mild corrosive agents. It offers an extra margin of long-term durability.
